NXT are excited to partner once again with a valued client to assist in their search for an experienced Transport Planner. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established company with a strong reputation in the industry.

Job Type: Permanent
Location:  ​​​​​Carlisle (rural)
Hours: 7am – 7pm (4 on, 4 off)
Salary: £35,000 increasing to £40,000 after probation (depending on experience)

The role:
You will be working alongside other transport planners within the teams to efficiently schedule daily planning activity, ensuring the most efficient use of vehicles and drivers during collections and deliveries, whilst taking account of WTR and Drivers Hours Rules, vehicle weights and dimensions, and the Road Traffic Act.

Key aspects:​​

• Effective planning of an agreed amount of resource (vehicles, drivers, trailers) maximising vehicle utilisation and minimising cost.
• Ensuring planned routes are in line with working time directive (WTD) and drivers hours rules.
• Allocation of work from vehicles, drivers, collections and deliveries are as efficient as possible taking into account customer requirements.
• Driver de-briefings, checking and authorising driver timesheets, and downloading of Tachograph data.

Requirements:

• Previous transportation knowledge
• Strong understanding of drivers hours regulations and working time directives
• Ability to work well within a team and alone.
• Flexible approach to work demands, including some evening and weekend work
• Good telephone manner
