Location: Carlisle (Rural)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 depending on experience
NXT Recruitment is supporting a growing and well-established business to recruit a Production / Factory Manager. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring production runs safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
This position would suit a strong operational leader who enjoys managing teams, improving processes, and maintaining high standards across production, safety, and quality.
The Role
As Production / Factory Manager, you will oversee the daily running of the factory, managing production teams, coordinating materials and logistics, and ensuring targets and deadlines are met. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe and organised working environment while supporting operational improvements across the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee daily factory operations and production activity
• Manage production teams and supervisors to ensure build targets and deadlines are achieved
• Monitor production output and report performance to the wider management team
• Coordinate with external transport providers to organise collections and deliveries
• Ensure units are prepared and ready for dispatch in line with agreed schedules
• Conduct regular shop floor checks covering safety, quality and progress
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment across the factory
• Produce drawings to support fabrication and assembly processes where required
• Ensure dimensional and visual quality checks are carried out throughout production
• Work with inspectors to ensure compliance with required standards and certifications
• Plan labour and materials to support short and medium-term production schedules
• Oversee stock levels and support material requisitions through the purchasing team
Team Leadership & Management
• Lead and support the supervisor team through regular production meetings
• Promote a positive team culture through motivation, recognition and clear communication
• Monitor attendance and manage any performance concerns in line with company procedures
• Support staff development through training on machinery, tools and processes
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
• Monitor operational performance and contribute to management reporting
• Track targets against performance and highlight improvement opportunities
• Work with the wider leadership team to support operational planning and KPIs
About You
• Previous experience in a production, factory or operational management role
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Ability to plan workloads and manage production targets
• Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a busy environment
• Confident communicator able to work across teams and departments
• Strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement
