Vehicle Technician

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday – no weekends or bank holidays
Location: Carlisle
Contract: Permanent, Full-time

NXT Recruitment is working on behalf of an independent specialist garage in Carlisle to recruit an experienced Vehicle Technician to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a great opportunity for a skilled technician looking for a long-term role within a well-established independent business, offering a Monday to Friday working week with no weekends or bank holidays.

The successful candidate will be joining a professional workshop where quality workmanship, technical ability and the right attitude are valued. Alongside routine servicing and mechanical repairs, you’ll have the opportunity to use your diagnostic skills to identify and resolve a wide range of vehicle faults.

The Role

As a Vehicle Technician, you’ll be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostics across a variety of vehicles.

The role would suit someone who is confident working independently, takes pride in their work and enjoys finding solutions to technical problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs
• Diagnosing and investigating vehicle faults
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify electrical and mechanical issues
• Carrying out inspections and identifying any additional work required
• Completing repairs efficiently and to a high standard
• Following manufacturer and workshop procedures
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and accurately
• Maintaining a clean and organised working environment
• Providing support to the wider workshop team when required

About You

We’re looking for a capable and experienced Vehicle Technician with strong mechanical knowledge and a positive, can-do attitude.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Vehicle Technician
• Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair preferred
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Good mechanical knowledge across servicing, maintenance and repairs
• Confidence working independently and using your own initiative
• Your own tools
• A strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
• A reliable and professional approach
• A positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in
• The ability to work well as part of a small, professional team
